Blog Roll

Karl Rove's Mind Ray Disproved

As Scientific as the 9-11 Truth Experiments!

I just spent an hour catching up on the various news and blogs from the previous week and looked through many posts from the dailyKos et al. Whoa, I'm glad I did. I have been under the impression that one of the big stories of the last week was the British interdiction of a terrorist plot to blow up as many as ten airliners on the way to the US.
Boy, was I wrong!
The real story is that George Bush orchestrated the entire story to bolster his sagging approval rating and keep me in a constant state of fear. The real horror was the fact that George Bush used the word "fascism" hyphenated to "Islamo" to describe the threat he has fabricated and peace-loving Muslims everywhere have been offended.
How did I get it so wrong?
It must be Karl Rove!
It's always Karl Rove.
Maybe he really can control people's minds. I wanted to find out. What would life be without the constant effects of Karl's Neo-Con Global Domination Obedience Ray?
First, tin foil. Lots of tin foil. One or two layers would not do it for me. I encased my head in six layers of the Alcoa heavy duty aluminum foil.
Second, to my twelve-year-old daughter's room I went. Thousands of requests, tirades, ultimatums to do chores, do homework, get off the phone have been ignored within the confines of that room. Established scientific fact:  no thought control of any kind can make it past the threshold of that room.
Third, now firmly encased in foil and protected by the impenetrable walls of my daughter's room I fire up the laptop and type www.dailykos.com and hit enter.
Will the scales fall from my eyes and truth be mine? Have I been wrong and what I thought was common sense was merely total manipulation by Karl and his NeoCon minions?
I read diaries. I read comments. I go through post after post.
And...
Karl has nothing to do with it.
They are just idiots.
And really I don't know how they keep these tin-foil helmets on all the time. Very uncomfortable.

NSA program catches Bush

Hoisted on his own petard

In an ironic turn of events the controversial NSA eavesdropping program instituted by the Bush administration has provided evidence of  the President's role in fabricating this week's UK terror hoax. An overseas phone call between Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair was inadvertently recorded by the top-secret program's monitoring equipment and demonstrates that the clearly agitated President wanted an immediate distraction created to save him from political events in the US.

The revelation that the terror plot uncovered in the UK was actually a hoax designed by the administration was originally reported in the DailyKos and was met with immediate concurrence from the "reality-based" community.

From the NSA transcript:

BUSH: Yo, Blair.
BLAIR: Hello Mr. President.
BUSH: We have a problem Blair...
BLAIR: It's Lamont, isn't it .
BUSH: Darn tootin' Blair. This Ned Lamont is a very serious threat to our sly Neo-con plan for world  domination. I need something to distract folks from Lamont! A terrorist plot or something. Can you help?
BLAIR: I think I have just the thing Mr. President. There's this Pakistani cricket team I 'd love to get rid of...
BUSH: Yeah, yeah. Sounds good . Say they were gonna blow something up.  Say they were gonna blow LOTS of things up!
BLAIR: Maybe airplanes...
BUSH: Yeah, yeah. Great! That's worked before.
BLAIR: I think we can do it. We may need to borrow Rove's mind-control machine for the next news cycle but it can be done.
BUSH: I'll check with Karl but I think he's busy manipulating left-wing bloggers to write anti-Semitic rants on the web this week. I'm not sure if it would work anyway. Those liberals have started wearing TWO layers of tin-foil on their heads to block Karl's mind ray. Drat those ingenious lefties!
BLAIR: A pox on them Mr President!  But fear not! We'll have everyone in a state of fear by this time tomorrow...
BUSH:..and nobody will be thinking about Ned Lamont! Heh heh!
BLAIR: Yes indeed...hey will you be attending the Illuminati Pot-Luck Dinner next week?
BUSH: Wouldn't miss it for the world! I just hope Cheney doesn't bring that damn tuna casserole again..
BLAIR:  (unintelligible)

The full transcript is expected to be published shortly in the NY Times and USA Today.
The NSA program is designed to intercept calls originating in the US to terrorists suspects overseas. An NSA spokesman explained that Mr Blair's home phone number had been mistakenly placed on the monitoring list after it had been discovered on George Gallloway's "Friends and Family" contact list.

Our Disproportionate Response to the Terrorist Threat

A practical application of NY Times Editorial "Logic"

Earlier this week the august NY Times ran an editorial concerning a potential cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah that stated "the political settlement has to be packaged so that both sides can claim some sort of victory."
OK. Let me think this through.
Hizbollah is a terrorist organization.
Check.
A terrorist organization shouldn't be expected to accept a "settlement" unless they are validated with a sense of "victory"over the civilized nation they are pledged to destroy.
Check.
Ok. Got it.
Once again I have forgotten that lack of "self-esteem" is the root cause of all bad behavior in the world. Thank goodness for NY Times-induced enlightenment!
Having experienced such an epiphany it is now so obvious how disproportionate a response is the arrest of twenty four terrorists for plotting to destroy ten airliners in flight from England to the United States! Where is the mutual sense of victory? How can a settlement ever be reached with these terrorists when British intelligence gets all the credit for success and the terrorists are left with not even an exploded sneaker to confirm their faith in their fragile inner-jihadi?  We can throw them in jail of course, but must we deprive them of all sense of self-worth?
The NY Times has shown us the way! Let us "package" this event so that both sides can claim victory! The solution is obvious. Release half of the plotters.Let them board five flights with their carry-on baggage. As the bloddy debris of the planes falls on US cities the MI-5 interrogator will smugly tell the captive terrorist ringleader "Aha! We have foiled half of your evil plot, Mohammed! "
"But I have been half successful Zionist-loving pig!" the jihadi will snarl in reply. But then, he will smile. His features  will soften. " I am suddenly feeling very good about myself. Validated almost! Please hand me my trac phone. I must call Ned Lamont, for I am now ready to negotiate in good faith with infidel dogs to establish peace and brotherhood!"

And to think, all this time I thought the best thing to do to terrorists was to hunt  them down and destroy them.  Thank God for the NY Times.

Blame Hugh Hewiitt

August 10

There, I've done it. I have started a blog. It is all Hugh Hewitt's fault. I listen to his radio show daily and his endless exhortations to "Go to Townhall! Start a blog!" have finally swayed me. When my wife complains (again) that I am spending too much time on the computer I can now say "Hugh made me do it" and give her the toll-free number of his show so she can lodge a protest. Hugh will explain it to her.

What will my blog concern itself with? I am neither pundit nor wonk - just a middle-aged father of two looking for common sense in a crazy world. Perhaps some may find future postings here interesting, humorous, or thought-provoking.Then again some may find them boring, sleep-inducing, and vapid. If the former, then credit to me. If the latter, then just blame Hugh Hewitt.
